Family Day RAF Odiham Thursday 27th July 2006
The Allsorts Motor Club gathered to put on display a collection of classic, vintage and veteran cars for Family Day at RAF Odiham Air Base. Many took up the opportunity of a ride in a Chinook Helicopter, suitable dressed was provided for the experience, a 10 minute flight over the surrounding countryside. With the loading bay doors open to the elements there was no lack of fresh air on a sweltering summer afternoon! The vibration and noise were not a problem wearing a flight helmet and all enjoyed the experience immensely. All of the day's entertaining was sponsored by Boeing in celebration of 25 years of the Chinook, and the children enjoyed Punch and Judy, fire eaters, dodgems, paint balling and much more. We were treated to an afternoon's flying display, including aerobatics from a Tucano, a Merlin helicopter, BBMF Dokota, BBMT Spitfire and a Chinook. It all proved a marvellous day out.
